  1. Since the drag on any reel is adjustable, this isn’t a specification that’s normally listed. Normally you’ll be fishing with the drag set at about 1/3 of the breaking strength of the line, and the drag should function fine if it’s set a bit higher than that (at up to probably 1/2 or 2/3 of the breaking strength, though that’s just a guess on my part).

    Those reels are made for 15 and 20 pound monofilament line respectively, so I would assume you can button down the drag to at least half to two thirds of that strength, that is, 8 to 10 pounds on the 650, 10 to 13 or so on the 750. They don’t mention braided line on their specs (some other Penn spinners do), so I would assume that the SSm series doesn’t have the strength to set a fighting drag for heavier line.
